In the great Search Engine Competition, Yahoo recently implemented photos posted by Flickr members in its image results, “ironically catching Yahoo up to Google, Microsoft and Ask.com -- all of which already included Flickr photos in their respective image search engines.” Striving to go one step further, these Yahoo! image results include a hyperlink to the Flickr album in which the image is located.
This is good news for Flickr users, who are in essence obtaining a free inbound link from Yahoo-- something that is sure to drive new traffic to their Flickr albums. But as far as Yahoo is concerned, some responses from the Internet community maintain that for a given search, “Yahoo Images still had plenty of crud.”
